What can I do?

We all live busy lives as we try to scrape together enough money to provide for ourselves and our families. Few of us can find time to get in touch with our MPs or contact media organisations to express our outrage at their failure to adequately cover what is happening in Palestine. The lobbying groups set up to support the State of Israel know this. They thrive on the apathy of the electorate in the West. But recent moves by the UK government and others to sanction businesses supporting the annexation of the West Bank show that governments will, eventually, respond to public pressure. Do something to bring an end to the suffering of the Palestinian people. My parents were of a generation who fought against the evil of Nazi Germany. Let us not look the other way now.

Contact your MP

It might not seem much, but we do live in a democracy in which we have elected representatives who are supposed to reflect our interests and our concerns. If your MP receives 100 emails a day, generated by people who are paid to lobby on behalf of Israel or which are generated by automatic programs designed for the same purpose, then that MP will come to believe that people are overwhelmingly supportive of Israel. The only way to counter this is to make sure we let our MPs know what their real constituents feel about the horror that is unfolding in Palestine.
